Professional Engagement

Independent professional practice

  • Alongside his academic role, Giovanni maintains an active independent practice under the name GioBorrows and contracts as a narrative designer and games writer.
  • Among his more recent projects, there’s a collaboration with the international game studio MD Studio, where he wrote and designed the narrative of the historical cozy gardening game set in the abbey of Port-Royal des Champs: The Abbess Garden.
  • In parallel he released Frozen Assets under his microgames development practice.
  • His work exemplifies the realities of contemporary indie development, where small studios operate across borders with distributed teams and mixed funding models.
