The School of Entrepreneurship is adapting to reflect current challenges for its online Greener Festival Training by introducing an additional webinar entitled - All Change: the impact of the 2020 lockdown on the sustainability of the Events Industry.

We spoke with Course Leader, Clare Hearn to find out more:

What is the course about?
A Greener Festival Training (AGF) focuses on the key operational issues of events which create an impact on the environment, developing the knowledge and skills of participants to undertake environmental assessments or simply to improve their understanding.

What changes have you made?
We have introduced an additional webinar entitled: All Change: the impact of the 2020 lockdown on the sustainability of the Events Industry. This will provide an opportunity to discuss the positive impacts that the Covid-19 lockdown has had on the environment as well as to explore its more challenging impacts on the events sector.

Why is it important?
The industry is hugely impacted by the challenges that Covid-19 has created, and this webinar will enable us to discuss the implications of the pandemic for the environmental and social as well as economic sustainability of the event industry.

What benefits will it bring for students?
This new webinar will enable students to share international experiences of Covid-19 in and on their region, and to explore a broader assessment of the current challenges and potential solutions.

The next Greener Festival Training runs

  • from 15– 28 June 2020
  • and again from 5– 18 October 2020.

I enjoyed the webinars and like-minded community, all on a mission to make festivals and events environmentally friendly and sustainable. Overall the course content was thorough, stimulating and on-par with what’s happening regarding climate change.
