01 August 2025

Graduate life has got off to a flying start for illustrator Rosie Dunbar, who has captured the attention of the Association of Illustrators (AOI), the leading professional body for illustration in the UK and beyond.
Since 1973 the AOI has been championing illustrators and the illustration industry with education, promotion and campaigning to achieve a thriving industry.
Rosie, who graduated from Illustration BA(Hons) this summer, has been named in the AOI’s ‘10 UK Illustration Graduates to Watch in 2025’ list, an annual feature showcasing the most exciting new illustration talent emerging from UK universities.
Drawing inspiration from science fiction, nature and film, Rosie creates work that is both impactful and playful, producing textural images based on ideas that fascinate her, and which have the capacity to promote positive change.
I loved my time at Falmouth! I met some great people and had the space to draw all the time, supported by a group of wonderful tutors who guided my work over the three years.

Amongst many projects she was involved in, in 2024 Rosie illustrated the cover of ‘Made in Redruth’, a brand-new newspaper for the west-Cornwall town which was the culmination of a collaborative project between students on three Falmouth courses and The Ladder, formerly Redruth’s Library.
Rosie told us: “I loved my time at Falmouth! I met some great people and had the space to draw all the time, supported by a group of wonderful tutors who guided my work over the three years.
“I feel very lucky to be chosen by the AOI alongside such talented illustrators; it really was such a surprise! It’s a nice bit of validation that my work is connecting with people.
“I’m planning to begin doing freelance illustration work and to keep busy with self-initiated projects. I want to stay engaged with developing my work and learning new skills even though my time as a student is over.”
