Second year Creative Events Management BA (CEM) students have recently completed a series of live events as part of their annual assessments, with all events focused on the importance of supporting the local community, charities and creative scene.

From the community dog walk at Pendennis Castle and the ‘Punk ‘n’ Poetry’ evening held at The Chintz, to the charity fund-raising ‘Memory in Bloom’ event at Princess Pavilions and the ‘Activities Afternoon’ at Falmouth Court Care Home, all were very successful – and proved the importance of events that support a local, inclusive community.

‘Memory in Bloom’, a fundraising event in support of dementia support charity, Cornwall Memory Café, proved particularly successful. With 40 attendees including carers, organisers Megan, Kayna, Beth and Nina were proud to present the Falmouth Memory Café with the funds raised at the event - over £200 in total.

Collectively, the students have raised both awareness and funds for several charities and engaged with really diverse audiences. Couse Leader, Matt Kirby said, “I’m so proud of our student project teams for their team-work, creativity and event planning, all of which has gone through such a steep learning curve, I can’t wait to see what they produce in their final year.”

Second year CEM student Megan Lord added; “It is such a good place to come and study events at Falmouth, doing the live events and work placements really boosts your learning and builds your confidence for the future.”
