It was a big night for our Documentary & Editorial Photography BA(Hons) community at the UK Picture Editors Guild Awards 2023. Graduate Jordan Pettitt was announced as Getty Images Young Photographer of the Year, while second-year student Ryan Jenkinson landed the Nikon Student Photographer of the Year award.

Graduating in 2019, Jordan Pettitt is now a staff photographer at PA Media. On winning this year’s Getty Image Young Photographer of the Year award, he took to Instagram to say: “I owe a huge personal thanks to my colleagues both old and new who have provided me with invaluable knowledge, wisdom and guidance throughout my short time as a photographer and it was such a privilege to be sat amongst some of the very best at the awards last night.”

Incredibly, it is the second year in a row that Ryan Jenkinson has won the Nikon Student Photographer of the Year award. He said: “I’d to like to thank all the tutors from the @falmouthuni Press and Editorial Photography Course for giving me the freedom to go away and take these pictures while also helping me to navigate university life.”
