Jasmine Hortop
Module Leader, Visual Communication BA(Hons) (Online)
Jasmine Hortop is an award-winning freelance illustrator and mural artist who uses visual storytelling to inspire action on environmental issues. With 13 years+ industry experience, her illustration work includes editorial, publishing, and global environmental campaigns. Mural and installation projects can be found internationally, with her Reclaim The Sea installation recently exhibited at national museum and gallery, The Box, in Plymouth. Clients include WWF, Radio Times, IUCN, New York Times, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation, Sony Records, Snapchat, The Scottish Government.
Jasmine holds a first class BA in Visual Communication and an MA with distinction in Illustration. While born in London, she has spent much of the last years immersed in nature. Through the flexibility of Falmouth’s online MA Illustration, she was able to combine travel along the Atlantic coastline of Europe with a final major project focused on art as advocacy.
Jasmine leads the Level 5 modules on BA Visual Communication (online) as Module Leader.

Research Interests
Research interests and expertise
Jasmine is particularly interested in using art as a tool for change, and has led immersive, co-creative pro bono projects with grassroots non-profits and charities working in the ocean and conservation space. Her Deep Dive framework centres on time spent embedded within organisations, listening, learning and collaborating to create public-facing artworks that spark conversation and build awareness.
