Gabrielle Kent
Lecturer, Indie Game Development MA (Online)
Gabrielle Kent is an author, game developer, and lecturer. She started her games career in the mid 90's on Shadowman, and went on to develop titles for Acclaim, Accolade, Infogrammes and Atari. She joined Falmouth in 2025 as a supervisor on the MA Indie Game Development program. As well as teaching, she works for the Terry Pratchett Estate where she co-authored the Discworld guide: Tiffany Aching's Guide to Being a Witch with Rhianna Pratchett. Independently she has written tie-in novels for Foamsword's Double Fine Presents game: Knights and Bikes and is the author of the Alfie Bloom series, published by Scholastic, the Rani Reports series, and an upcoming series for Penguin Random House. She is currently working on several unannounced writing projects to be published 2027, in addition to two unannounced game projects.
During her career, Gabrielle spent 16 years as a Senior Lecturer in Games Development and Deputy Head of the Games Department at Teesside University, where she designed and delivered a variety of games art and design related Masters and Undergraduate courses, with a particular focus on games mechanics, game design, level and UI design. She was the founder and long time director of Animex Game, part of the Animex International Festival of Animation and Computer Games. She currently enjoys hosting and collaborating on the Konsoll Games Festival in Bergen, Norway.
