Lecturer BA (Hons) Marine and Natural History Photography

Claire Braithwaite is an artist and photography educator with over 12 years experience teaching across both FE and HE settings.

After gaining her first class BA(Hons) Photography and briefly working in design, Claire completed a PGCE and began teaching. Claire works predominately with the first year students and with this broad experience and understanding of photographic education, is well equipped to support them through the first year of their degree.

An avid gardener, Claire has also studied horticulture and this informs her commercial photographic work as a plant and garden specialist. Claire has worked with clients locally and internationally, including the Eden Project and the National Trust. In 2015 Claire completed an MA in Art and Environment, this complemented her skill set and allowed an exploration of gardening through the eyes of an artist.   Claire enjoys experimental photographic processes and mixed media and her work often uses all manner of materials.

For Claire, teaching on the Marine and Natural History course is the perfect opportunity to inspire students through the combination of photography and the natural world. Claire joined the course team in 2017.
