Falmouth University Chancellor, much-loved comedian and bestselling author, Dawn French, has released her latest book, Enough with Penguin Books. 

Enough follows the hilarious story of 68-year-old Etta, a protagonist who, on finding the cure for old age, gathers her family for an unforgettable weekend. A poignant novel about ageing, family and seizing the day, Enough enchants the reader into a narrative that covers just twenty-four hours, as Etta’s family has the most life-affirming day of their lives.

Having been described by the Sunday Express as a “tender and devastating” read, Dawn’s latest book has also garnered praise from fellow bestselling authors Marian Keyes (WatermelonRachel’s Holiday), Jo Brand (Look Back in HungerDecline and Falling Over) and Bernadine Evaristo (Girl, Woman, Other), who have admired its “humour” and “wisdom”, describing the novel as “heartening, gripping and reassuringly human”. 

Since Enough’s release on 21 May, Dawn has appeared on The One Show and The Radio 2 Breakfast Show, at Hay Festival and is set to talk about her book again at The Forum Bath on 2 June, an event hosted by Falmouth Honorary Fellow, Sue Perkins.  

Dawn’s career initially blossomed when she met her long-term comedy partner Jennifer Saunders, and the pair came to national attention in 1982 on Channel 4’s The Comic Strip Presents. The duo later starred in the sitcom Girls on Top before getting their own hugely successful sketch show, French and Saunders. Dawn later went on to star in Murder Most HorridPsychoville and the title role in the sitcom The Vicar of Dibley, a role that solidified her status as a national treasure.
