Thick & Tight Masterclass

The workshop will begin with an introduction to Thick & Tight and a short warm-up. This will lead into learning some of Thick & Tight’s choreographic tools they use when creating their work.

Finally you will learn repertoire from their show Natural Behaviour which will be performed at AMATA on Saturday 28 November. We encourage people with all styles and abilities to attend.

Workshop leader biography:

Daniel Hay-Gordon (he/him) is a dancer, choreographer and filmmaker and one half of dance theatre company Thick & Tight, which he established with co-director and fellow Rambert graduate El Perry back in 2012.  As  Thick & Tight, Hay-Gordon and Perry take influence from the historical, the political and the artistic to create a mix of dance, mime, theatre and drag performances. They are committed to engaging with people from a range of backgrounds, with particular focus on the LGBTQI+ and learning-disabled communities. Having started out in small-scale and queer spaces, Thick & Tight have gone on to work at Barbican, Lowry, Sadler’s Wells, Southbank, BAC, ROH, among others.

• Age recommendation: 18+
• The workshop is recommended for professional dancers, graduates, or students studying on a full- time dance course, or equivalent level of experience.
