Benjamin Woods graduated from BA(Hons) Creative Music Technology in 2014.
“My main songwriting project, The Golden Dregs, started out as part of my final assessment at Falmouth. Now, we’re a band working on our fifth album.
“Since our success in 2023, when having an album signed to 4AD enabled us to tour Europe and the US, I’ve established my own record label with the support of my managers at End of the Road Music. My work for the label, Joy of Life International, has not just supported my own music, but meant I’ve worked with a growing roster of independent artists. I run this as a non-profit, helping music I believe in reach a wider audience.
“I also run a recording studio in London, where I work on my own music and with other artists, developing a portfolio of co-writes with the support of my publishers at Beggars Music.”
How did Falmouth shape your career?
“I hadn’t really written any of my own music until my final year at Falmouth; it was the encouragement of my course tutors that gave me the validation I needed to make a go of it. Now 12 years after graduating, many of the incredible musicians I met there are still close friends and regular collaborators.”
