Online Tutor, Photography MA (Online)

Stuart Tolley is a practising art director, graphic designer and Thames & Hudson published author. He is the Director of Transmission Graphic Design studio, based in Brighton, and lecturers on the MA Graphic Design course.

He has a specific interest in the music, magazine, typography, photographic and book publishing industries. He started as a designer on Sleazenation, the independent music, style and culture magazine and has since worked with some of the most prestigious names in the publishing, arts and culture industries.

Stuart has authored two visual culture books: MIN: The New Simplicity in Graphic Design and Collector's Edition: Innovative Packaging and Graphics. Published by Thames & Hudson, both books explore contemporary design trends that occur in response to digital developments and social and political changes.

He has hosted panel talks about photographing music at The Barbican, on simplification in graphic design at Soho House, on Minimalism in graphic design at the It’s Nice That ‘Nicer Tuesdays’ event and has been interviewed by Monocle Radio about limited edition graphic design for the music industry.

He has also curated numerous exhibitions, including Collector’s Edition, held at the KK Outlet in London to launch his first book, and the Life in 2050 exhibition, to promote the launch of the Sci-Fi London Film Festival.
