You'll acquire the necessary tools to become technically proficient, critically engaged, and professionally aware as you explore many techniques and processes across a wide range of traditional and digital media. Project work will shape your problem-solving skills while deepening your understanding of the creative process, from storyboarding and creative writing through to image rendering.

Falmouth's Illustration course is delivered through a series of units covering all aspects of illustration, including Drawing, Visual Studies, Professional Practice, and Historical and Cultural Studies. Project work is supported by lectures, seminars, study trips, professional experience, and tutorials.

Course entry requirements

Illustration BA(Hons)Foundation Diploma; or National Diploma, 14-19 Specialist Diploma, or other appropriate level 3 qualifications/experience.

Interview dates and selection process

Interviews will be held in late April and early May.

Interviews will include a departmental tour, followed by a project brief to be worked on in the Illustration studio with a student mentor on-hand for advice, and an individual interview. Please allow a full day.

Applicants satisfying entry requirements will be asked to submit a CD of current work and then invited to interview if successful. The CD and portfolio should demonstrate creative and visual development through to completion, and observational/objective drawing skills eg. life drawing or similar.
