Truro City of Lights BA(Hons) Creative Events Management brings together business acumen, entrepreneurship, innovation and partnership firmly grounded within a creative context. Taught by some of the industry's top practitioners, with access to the most up-to-date resources, you'll develop strong project management skills, a good knowledge of the arts and cultural sectors, and work on live business projects as well as alongside students on Falmouth's other courses to develop and deliver events across the College's campuses.

The curriculum will develop a holistic view of all the components needed to create and sustain organisations within the creative industries by developing project management skills alongside an understanding of the workings of the arts and cultural sectors. We teach advanced project management skills, effective communication, requirements and psychology of teamwork, interpersonal skills, cultural reflective practice, and professional tools and techniques. Particular emphasis will be placed on managing complexity, uncertainty and diversity.

The course provides the opportunity for experiential learning and engagement within a community of practice by ensuring links with locally and nationally recognised creative and media industries.

During this three year, full-time course, you'll learn through an experiential process which embeds theory and practice within a unitised framework. There'll be a series of live briefs informed by the contribution of visiting speakers, ensuring you develop well-informed professional practices.

Course entry requirements

UCAS Tariff 220 points, mainly from the A2 level, or National Diploma, 14-19 Specialist Diploma, Access to HE Awards or other appropriate level 3 qualifications/experience.

Interview dates and selection process

Interviews will commence in February.

The interview will include a group tour of facilities and course talk, followed by a group brainstorm around an event management brief and an individual interview. Applicants will be sent a brief for a brainstorming session and will also be required to bring any evidence they have to demonstrate engagement with events management or the creative industries.
