At Falmouth, you'll be supported in the development of your creative work and the interdisciplinary structure of the course will enable you to select and develop a personal programme of study from a range of different forms and media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, digital technologies and networks, video, performance, text and sound.

The course will enable you to realise your creative potential, and provide you with a confident sense of purpose and ambition so that you graduate with a wide portfolio of creative achievements, transferable skills and abilities.

By choosing to study for a degree in Fine Art at Falmouth you will:

How is the course taught?

The studio is at the centre of your learning and teaching. The course is taught through individual tutorials, media workshops, group critiques/seminars, lectures and student-led initiatives in exhibitions and presentations of work. The course consists of integrated units of study in Studio Practice and Critical Studies.

The continuous assessment of your progress is closely integrated with the activities of learning and teaching. You'll be expected to actively contribute to this process by developing skills of independent learning and self-evaluation.

All staff on the course are practising artists, performers and/or writers whose experience, commitment and professional expertise ensures that you'll receive a very high quality of tuition.

Assessment

• Studio practice is continually assessed through the presentation of work for tutorial evaluation in Levels 1 & 2 and a final degree exhibition in Level 3
• Critical studies is assessed in the form of written assignments in Levels 1 & 2 and a dissertation in Level 3

BA(Hons) Fine Art is based at our Woodlane Campus but you will have access to specialist facilities across both campuses, including:

Projects

You'll have the opportunity to apply for the Ferdynand Zweig Scholarship, which could help you travel abroad to follow your artistic interests.

Media release: Students return from global adventures to exhibit artwork

Falmouth gave me the opportunity and funding to conduct research abroad. My tutor helped me with my application and the Ferdynand Zweig scholarship allowed me to visit and document a collection of futurist buildings in Italy. Career opportunities

You'll graduate with a wide portfolio of creative achievements, transferable skills and abilities. These attributes encourage many graduates to consider self-employment as practising artists or employment within the wider creative industries.

Some careers will also require postgraduate study, for example:

• Teaching/lecturing
• Arts administration
• Curating
• Gallery/events management.

Recent graduates have gained postgraduate places at Royal College of Art, Royal Academy, Goldsmiths and Slade School of Fine Art.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 220 UCAS points, equivalent Level 3 qualifications or relevant experience. You may be required to submit visual documentation of work to help us decide who to interview. Successful applicants are generally those with the strongest portfolios.

Interview and selection process

All applicants will receive an email asking you to submit an electronic portfolio of 20 images with a written summary of each (title of piece, context, size and media used). If successful at this stage you will be invited to interview with your portfolio. Portfolio guidelines will be issued with the interview letter.

Interviews will be held on 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 March 2012 only. Applicants will have individual interviews of approximately half an hour followed by a campus tour.
