Described by art critic Brian Sewell as "a sculptor that can trounce the lot of them", Falmouth graduate Tim Shaw has garnered accolades and awards worldwide for his work.
After graduating I spent three months performing in Europe, including International Performance Art Hildesheim workshops and performances in Germany; the Nomadic Village event in Bulgaria; the Schmiede in Austria; and the Zoom! Westeuropa festival in Germany. Now I'm back in the UK preparing for two performances at Plymouth Arts Centre and working on establishing International Performance Association UK.
I chose Falmouth because of the sea, and because of Cornwall's extraordinary light. The slower pace of life, and lack of distractions away from London, provided the time and the space to develop as an artist. Falmouth was an exciting, stimulating, and at times challenging place, with a strong sense of community.
Since graduating, I have exhibited widely, including solo shows at the Barbican Centre (London), and the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum (Coventry). My work has been included in group shows in New York, Philadelphia, Paris and Berlin, as well as in numerous UK exhibitions.

Media release: Students return from global adventures to exhibit artwork
Falmouth gave me the opportunity and funding to conduct research abroad. My tutor helped me with my application and the Ferdynand Zweig scholarship allowed me to visit and document a collection of futurist buildings in Italy. This research created the foundation for work that is still ongoing. Louise Thomas, BA(Hons) Fine Art
