Simon studied Product and Furniture Design at Kingston University, graduating in 1999. Shortly afterwards, he joined Rotadex Systems Ltd and ran a two-year project to establish an in-house design department within the company. During this time he also studied part-time on the MA Product Design programme, at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, and graduated in 2001 with a distinction. Simon went on to become product design manager at Rotadex, leading the design process for all new products, and helping the company develop a design led philosophy.

Simon began designing independently in 2004 whilst beginning a career as a university lecturer. Since then, he has established numerous consultancy clients across a range of design disciplines, including product, furniture and exhibition design, whilst developing his experience and understanding of design teaching in higher education. Within his own practice and research, he maintains a strong focus on sustainable design and has been particularly influenced by cradle-to-cradle concepts and designing for a circular economy. His experience in manufacturing has lead to the development of excellent CAD skills across a range of software, including SolidWorks.

Simon joined Falmouth University in 2012 and has since become second year coordinator for the BA(Hons) Sustainable Product Design course.
