Policy engagement within Cornwall

Station Manager - Source FM

Source FM is a not-for-profit, open-access, community radio station for the 40,000 residents of Falmouth, Penryn and the surrounding rural areas. We provide a social gains radio service, which places strong emphasis on reaching out with information and training to all members of the community, especially those who would find it difficult to locate avenues for participation inside traditional media outlets such as the BBC. The radio station provides free training and an outlet for local people and service providers to raises awareness of local issues, showcase local talents, preserve traditions and create locally specific programming that celebrates Falmouth.

Business start ups

Matthew set up Source FM throughout the second half of 2008 and it went to air in February 2009. Source FM has been given a licence extension by Ofcom allowing it to stay on air for another five years from February 2014. We have given airtime to over 400 local people and the station regularly features shows that are hosted by Falmouth students and staff.
