All students on our Sustainable Product Design (SPD) course are engaged in live projects with companies and researchers. They work on issues of our time in a leading research environment and the course is directly linked to the University's Academy for Innovation & Research.
Current students are working on live projects including low carbon design concepts for BT Superfast Broadband Cornwall, products for Marks & Spencer Asia (with students from Hong Kong), and a collaboration with the University of Exeter on the design of a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car for the Shell Eco Challenge.
Live projects allow students to develop key employability proficiencies in research, technical skills (including digital manufacturing and CAD), project management, teamwork, presentation skills and report writing. As such, employment prospects for SPD graduates are excellent: last year 89% of our graduates were working or studying in the field of sustainable product design within six months of being awarded their degree.
