The following information is intended for applicants who have already been invited to an interview, to help them prepare. Please note it may change from year to year.
We invite all applicants who show potential to an interview. We offer a range of interview options both on campus and regionally in Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and London. Interviews are two-way: they give you the opportunity to show your creative skills and interview us; and they help us to assess further your potential to succeed in your chosen subject. If you are based outside the UK and are unable to come to Falmouth or a regional interview, you can select to be interviewed online or by telephone.
We'll invite you to an interview through the Falmouth Applicant Portal.
If, in order to attend an in-person on campus interview, you have any individual requirements due to a long-term health condition, specific learning difficulty or disability, please contact the Accessibility Service as soon as possible:

This will enable us to discuss and put in place any support or adjustments you may require, for example, hearing induction loop, BSL interpreter, adjusted interview time/length, ground floor interview room or information in a different format.

Regional interviews (London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol)

Open Day interviews
Your interview will take place as part of the open day, please refer to the Applicant Portal for the exact time.
Your interview will take place with a member of the course team at the time given in the Applicant Portal, it will last around 20-30 minutes. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions and you can chat to our current students online using our Ask a Student page.
Please begin by preparing a portfolio of your work. This should consist of about twelve pages. We'd like to see current work, even if it's not fashion-related. We're particularly interested in your ideas and how your research has drawn inspiration from areas like changing society, technology and markets. These can be compilations of images, text, annotations, creative writing and/or project management.
We also suggest you mark the outside of your portfolio with your name so you can easily tell which is the front, to save yourself time and make the most of the interview.
Your portfolio should be:
- Selective and well edited
- Organised, so you can quickly find what you're looking for
Your portfolio should demonstrate your:
- Ability to investigate and develop ideas
- Skills in writing for different audiences
- Visual awareness
- Investigations into industry developments (brands, influencers etc.)
- Application of digital tools (e.g. social media, online communication)
Before your interview you'll need to prepare your portfolio. We also recommend you familiarise yourself with the information on the Fashion Marketing BA(Hons) page and think about your responses to questions such as:
- Why have you chosen to study Fashion Marketing Falmouth?
- What aspect of fashion marketing really engages you?
- What are you looking forward to doing most on the course?
- Which brands, designers or influencers have you found relevant to your own critical perspective?
- What else do you get involved in, besides your current studies?
You'll be asked to select examples of your work to illustrate your answers to interview questions, providing evidence of your approach to developing ideas, and a commitment to and enthusiasm for fashion marketing and communications.
A successful applicant will be able to evidence their skills, their enthusiasm and commitment to their subject according to the following criteria:

Demonstration of fashion marketing ideas which evidence conceptual thinking and/or commercial application.
Sketchbooks / Research
Demonstration of effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Visual investigation through composition, image manipulation, placement, typography etc.

We aim to make all decisions within five working days of interviews. However, in some cases, we might wait until we have held a batch of interview sessions before we make a decision. All decisions will be made online in your UCAS Track account and we will also email you.
