Our Recognising Talent Scheme has been created to identify students that have the potential to be original and courageous thinkers, who are passionate about their area of interest and will feed the future of the creative industries. We will take into consideration the views of their current teachers as well as an interview or audition.
It provides them with an unconditional offer to start their creative career at Falmouth, if they make Falmouth their firm choice. We will incentivise continued outstanding performance in their current studies through the Creative Talent Awards.
We believe these outstanding applicants will make a significant contribution to creative innovation and entrepreneurship at the University and will gain immensely from their time with us. We hope that the unconditional offer will demonstrate to these students our confidence that they have the necessary qualities to excel at Falmouth. We also hope that the unconditional offer will alleviate some of the pressure students feel at this time and will enable them to focus on achieving the excellent grades that will become part of their curriculum vitae.
What are the benefits of the scheme?
Applicants who are eligible for our Recognising Talent Scheme who place Falmouth as their firm choice will have their offer changed to unconditional. These applicants will receive:
- The guarantee of a place at Falmouth University
- Access to £1,000 funding through the Creative Talent Awards
- Guaranteed University owned or managed accommodation
How exactly does the scheme work?
You need to apply to Falmouth and attend an interview or audition in person or online. If you are selected for the scheme, after interview, we will send you a letter informing you of this. The letter will explain that if you choose Falmouth as your firm choice via UCAS Track, we will respond to this commitment by making your offer unconditional.
Why do you interview all candidates?
We take time to meet all candidates in-person or online because we believe you can’t identify talent and potential by considering predicted grades and personal statements in isolation, every applicant is different and has a unique creative or entrepreneurial background. We want to find out all about your skills, abilities, interests and what makes you passionate for the course. This is also a great opportunity for you to meet the course teams and find out more about the course and our facilities.
Will I need to visit Falmouth for my Interview or audition?
We encourage all applicants to visit us to see our campuses, facilities and get a feel for Falmouth. However, if this is not possible we also offer interviews online or by phone.
How do I apply for the £1,000 Creative Talent Award?
You will automatically be entered for an award; full details can be found here https://www.falmouth.ac.uk/creative-talent-award
How do you select which applicants receive an unconditional offer?
We choose applicants based upon their achieved and predicated academic success and also consider their interview or audition and personal statement and references. The criteria for receiving an unconditional offer will vary across the University, as different criteria are set for different courses.
Why are the offers only available to applicants who put Falmouth as their firm choice?
Our recognising talent scheme has been created to encourage those students with the very best potential to join us at Falmouth. We believe these applicants to be capable of achieving good grades and that they will continue to do their very best in their studies, this warrants an unconditional offer. In return we feel it’s important you demonstrate your commitment by selecting Falmouth as your firm choice via UCAS.
Which qualifications will you consider?
In addition to A-Levels we will consider a number of qualifications under the scheme, including BTECs, International Baccalaureates and combinations of qualifications. We are unable to make an offer under this scheme to those who need to achieve English language proficiency; though these applicants will still, of course, be considered for a conditional offer.
Can I be considered if I am an overseas applicant?
Unfortunately, we cannot consider applicants who are eligible for International fees for this scheme, however these applications will of course be considered for a conditional offer and are also eligible to apply for our scholarships, details of which can be found https://www.falmouth.ac.uk/student-funding/international-scholarships
Which courses are included in the scheme?
All undergraduate courses run on-campus at Falmouth University are part of the scheme
What happens if I don’t achieve my predicted grades?
We will still accept you. An unconditional offer demonstrates your academic achievements, future potential, talent and passion for your chosen subject area and your career in the creative industries. We, therefore, expect that you’ll continue to work hard to achieve your predicted grades and those unconditional offer holders who achieve the very best grades or demonstrate exceptional potential through their interview or audition will have the opportunity to receive a Creative Talent Award.
Can I defer my unconditional offer to 2020 entry?
No, the unconditional offer is only available to those who will take up their place in 2019
