Applicable to postgraduate study
Professional and Career Development Loans are often the main source of funding for postgraduate students and those undertaking training courses to improve their employment prospects.
PCDLs are banks loans, usually offered at a reduced interest rate and the government pays the interest while you are studying (and for one month afterwards). You can apply to borrow between £300 and £10,000 to cover the cost of tuition fees, course and general living expenses.
PCDLs are currently offered by The Co-operative Bank and Barclays. It's advisable to apply three months before your course starts to give the bank enough time to process your application.
To order an application pack, you need to contact the National Careers Service on 0800 100 900 or arrange for a call back by completing your information here: http://nationalcareersservice.phoneme.net/. Once you have completed the form, return it to the bank and they will decide if you qualify for a loan.
