Jennifer Neal

Associate Lecturer

Jennifer graduated from Falmouth University in 2010 and is delighted to be back teaching here as her personal experience of having studied a BA(Hons) in Spatial Design: Interior and Landscape, allows her to relate very well to the students. She has been a visiting lecturer at Falmouth since 2013 and has experience of teaching on the Interior Architecture BA Honours Degree course at the University of the West of England.

Since graduating, Jennifer has specialised in architectural lighting design and predominantly worked in central London on national and international projects. During this time, she also gained an MSc in Light and Lighting at The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. After gaining experience within the architectural lighting field, she moved into energy performance lighting and worked for British Gas and E.ON, where she combined the architectural aesthetic of lighting with the importance of carbon reduction, resulting in highly energy efficient lighting schemes, predominantly for hospitals, including Guys and St. Thomas’ in London. Whilst working on these large projects, she gained her professional Chartership as a Building Service Engineer in lighting.

In 2017 she went on to set up her own business, The Lighting People. The business allows Jennifer to blend both architectural lighting design together with energy performance lighting, to create beautifully efficient lighting schemes. Jennifer enjoys the variety that lighting projects present and is happy to be managing the lighting design team within the business, since she loves to teach and see others progress.
