Welcome Week

Meet your mentor evening

At the Meet Your Mentor evening, you will meet your student mentor and other new students from your course. This is held on the night before your induction week begins so it's a great opportunity to get to know other students on your course and have familiar faces on your first day. You will receive an email inviting you to meet your mentor.

Every new incoming foundation, undergraduate and repeating student will be supported by a student mentor (a second year, where possible from your course) who will contact you before you arrive. They will help you settle in to life at Falmouth and help support you throughout the first year. You can always approach them, to ask any questions, big or small right through your first year.

More information about the Student Mentoring Scheme

A 'fresher' is the affectionate term for a new student. The freshers' experience kicks off on Monday 18 September and is a fantastic opportunity to meet lots of people, all of whom are in the same situation as you, so just be yourself and get involved! It includes a variety of evening and daytime events, activities and trips.

There are also various Freshers Fayres on offer, including the commercial Fayre on 24 September, where students can see what local businesses have to offer (freebies and tasters galore!) and student groups will be introducing themselves throughout the week. You can also try out their taster sessions during the week. Plus, if you're keen to get more involved with the local community, the Volunteering Fayre will be held at the start of term, so there's loads to explore.

Freshers' events are supported by FXU (Falmouth and Exeter Students' Union). They are here to support you during your time at Falmouth University, holding events and activities, offering advice, representing your issues throughout the University and much more.

For more information about who they are and what they do, visit the FXU website. The full Freshers' programme will be available there soon and you'll also receive a letter from the Falmouth President prior to arrival.
