Students' Union

Our Students’ Union (SU), is the only union in the country to represent students from two different universities; Falmouth and The University of Exeter. Its aim is to ensure every student has the highest quality of education and the best experience possible during their time in Cornwall.

The Students' Union puts your voice at the heart of everything it does. Although relatively small, it has one of the highest levels of participation in the country. The team provides social opportunities, societies, sports clubs, political groups, volunteering and fundraising opportunities, and the chance to represent your coursemates and colleagues.

But it doesn’t stop there. The Students' Union offers confidential support and advice on anything from financial concerns, to welfare, to accommodation and course queries, at any stage of your degree. The team are here for you in the run up to the first time you arrive, right up until the day you graduate.

Sports and societies

Extracurricular activities can take your degree from being good, to being great. That’s why the Students' Union runs hundreds of student societies and clubs, over 1,000 activities a year, and averages around 20,000 volunteering hours.

On the clubs and societies front, there’s something for everyone - from classic groups like Fal Surf and the fundraising society to Cornish Language and Culture and the martial art Tang Soo Do. Most societies are free to try and will often become an integral part of your university life.

Volunteering

Try new experiences, develop skills and make a difference. Our volunteering scheme gives you the chance to work with community partners, charities, conservation projects, young people and the elderly. From Flicka Volunteers – a project which involves working with rescued horses and donkeys – to Generation Wild, which aims to engage and inspire children about nature and the environment. There are a huge range of opportunities available.

CoLab

CoLab is a platform built to help develop and diversify portfolios, experiences, and skills. Set up by the Students’ Union, CoLab works by allowing you to post opportunities for collaborative projects and reach out to fellow students from Falmouth University and the University of Exeter to share skills and expertise.

Course representatives

Each year the Students' Union elects, trains and supports over 200 Falmouth students to act as Course Representatives. They gather and represent student feedback, getting the student voice to the places where decisions about your experience are made.

Becoming a Rep gives students the opportunity to work closely with their course team and develop valuable leadership skills whilst shaping their university experience.
