Last week (Friday 15 April) the Academy of Music and Theatre Arts (AMATA) played host to an exciting film shoot marking an ambitious collaboration between musician and producer Stephen Duffy, filmmaker Doug Arrowsmith, students from AMATA and the School of Film & Television and pro-audio company Solid State Logic(SSL).
After making a documentary film about Stephen Duffy award-winning filmmaker Doug Arrowsmith called on the services of Falmouth to film and record a live album crewed entirely by Music and Film students.
AMATA's close working relationship with audio company SSL also came into play, with SSL travelling down from their Oxford base with a top of the range live mixing console and technical support from two staff engineers. The students will now be working with Stephen and Doug to edit the film and mix the sound for a release in the autumn.
Duffy's career spans being a founder member of Duran Duran, a stint as chart-topping solo act Stephen 'Tintin' Duffy, a writer/producer for Robbie Williams and a long-time front man for his current band, The Lilac Time.
