Mark is a graduate of the Royal College of Art, where he studied under renowned illustrators, Quentin Blake and Peter Brooks. 

Mark has enjoyed a varied career as a professional illustrator and has worked on a wide variety of commissions from book jackets, editorial, posters and reportage to architectural archive material for the Museum of London. He is also a respected writer and illustrator of children’s books, and is published by Macmillan, Anderson Press, Pavilion, Walker Books and Julia Macrae Books in the UK, and Farrar, Straus & Giroux in the United States. Mark has also been the recipient of several prestigious awards, notably The Brian Robb Travel Award, The Vogue, Sothebys’ Cecil Beaton Award, and The Folio Society Illustration Award. Mark works from his studio in St Ives and exhibits through The New Craftsman Gallery.

I have been researching the area of young audience, picture books and how they can relate to ethical and social issues.
This research feeds directly into my teaching.
