David Bottomley, whose play Waterton's Wild Menagerie was shortlisted for the 2012 Nick Darke Award, will be presenting a rehearsed reading of his latest play at the Women in the Arts Festival.
The play, entitled The Peacock and the Nightingale, will showcase at Tristan Bates Theatre for one night only on Monday 16 December.
The play is based on the historic meeting between veteran poet Dr Edith Sitwell and movie star Marilyn Monroe in Hollywood in the 1950's. This play aims to offer a reappraisal of both women’s characters behind their iconic public image and to encourage a new generation to discover their idiosyncratic contribution to 20th Century art.
