Having been involved in writing the BA(Hons) Creative Events Management course, Claire joined the teaching team at the beginning of course delivery in 2010. In writing the course, her ambition was to enable students to develop their skills and become useful, creative and productive project managers and she is delighted to see the progress of each student through the degree. In this role, she hosts over 250 days of work placements each year and she is event director for City of Lights in Truro in November each year, one of the largest switch on events outside London. With her broad experience in community, corporate and creative event production and business management, Claire teaches the Professional Studies course in the third year and the Innovation for Events module in the second year.

Research interests

Research interests and expertise

Claire is currently writing her first academic paper on the model that she created, The Six Segment Model, and its application to business and to event management. She intends to publish this in 2016.

She is particularly interested in research around the concept of professionalism within the very young industry of event management and how the 'learning on the job' translates into academic structure and learning. Claire uses her creative brain to develop event concepts and ideas and is interested in research around sustainability of ideas in ever changing marketplaces and how we design engaging event concepts to influence behaviour.
