Collaborative Research

Collaborative Research

From start-up enterprises and graduate businesses to international corporations, we work with a host of organisations to hone designs, prototype products, develop business models and facilitate connections with collaborators, suppliers and customers.

Our aim is to help companies grow by providing space, time and, most importantly, access to experts across a range of disciplines. We encourage the people and companies we work with to experiment, test ideas and explore new challenges - and we can provide support throughout every stage of the process.

Current collaborative projects in the Academy for Innovation & Research span a range of sectors including fashion, textiles, theatre, design, smart energy and craft. Many of these projects use digital technologies to produce state-of-the-art products and solutions to the challenges of 21st century life.

Funding for collaborative research varies. When the research has a commercial focus we can help businesses access innovation funding, including Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, or set up consultancy arrangements and license agreements. For projects without a commercial focus, we can help put together bids for funds from third parties such as Research Councils.
