National Art & Design Saturday Club

National Art & Design Saturday Club ceramics workshop

During 2015-16, Falmouth University will continue to deliver our popular National Art & Design Saturday Club - a programme of Saturday art classes for local young people aged 14 to 16. The club is free to attend for students who live in Cornwall and will include a wide variety of art, design and media disciplines.

Sessions will be delivered by Falmouth University's expert teaching staff from our Foundation Diploma and undergraduate courses, with the assistance of our experienced and talented undergraduate student ambassadors. The club will take place at both Falmouth and Penryn campuses, utilising the University's state-of-the-art facilities. There will also be sessions led by Falmouth University graduates at Tate St Ives, Falmouth Art Gallery and local artists' studios.

The National Art & Design Saturday Club includes a trip to London in the Autumn and a masterclass with a professional artist or designer in the Spring - both of which are delivered in partnership with Truro & Penwith College. The club will conclude with an exhibition of participants' work at Somerset House, London, in Summer 2016. All participants receive a certificate of participation from The Sorrell Foundation.

The club lasts for the duration of the academic year, with sessions running on Saturdays in term-time only.

The National Art & Design Saturday Club is part of a national initiative set up by The Sorrell Foundation, a charitable organisation dedicated to inspiring creativity in young people and providing them with pathways into further and higher education. Now in its sixth year, the programme is delivered by over 40 universities and colleges across the UK. Find out more at saturday-club.org

Now in its fourth year, the Art & Design Saturday Club has been running at Falmouth since 2012. It is an excellent opportunity for young people to experience life at their local higher education institution and take their interest in the creative industries further. If you are aged 14 to16 and are interested in art and design and the wider creative industries we strongly encourage you to apply.
