Our staff are practicing professionals and all our courses have excellent relationships with industry, giving you opportunities to make valuable contacts, hear from inspirational visiting speakers, work on live briefs, go on study trips, and set up work placements or internships.

Visiting speakers

Our reputation for quality has attracted many leading lights to Falmouth, be it as guest speakers, to attend conferences and symposiums or simply to be inspired by our vibrant programme of exhibitions. Visit our course pages for more details of recent and upcoming guest lectures.

Our Visiting Professors Lecture Series brings international speakers of the highest calibre to Falmouth to share their ideas and insights with students, staff and the wider public. Visiting professors include Michael Grandage the award-winning artistic director of the Michael Grandage Company and formerly the Donmar Warehouse, Turner Prize-shortlisted artist Cornelia Parker, celebrated poet Simon Armitage, and writer Deborah Levy. All the lectures are free and open to the public.

Placements

Placements are integral to most of our courses and stepping up to the experience of life in the workplace will help you to grow your expertise and confidence, as well as develop your employability skills in a real-world environment. Our well-connected staff and the placements team are on hand to support you in sourcing and securing a suitable placement.

Skills training

Falmouth offers IT training courses, workshops, learning resources and qualifications in a host of applications including Dreamweaver, Flash, WordPress, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Courses including Adobe qualifications are offered at a hugely discounted rate.

The Agency

Located within the BA(Hons) Illustration studio, The Agency uses the talent of staff and students to meet the illustrative needs of local, national and international businesses – a professional service that's the first of its kind in the UK.

An agency run by students and alumni from the BA(Hons) Press & Editorial Photography course, Cartel Photos delivers images covering everything from local news stories, events and PR shoots to editorial and reportage content.

Our employer liaison team works on your behalf to build relationships with regional, national and international companies as well as links to existing and emerging networks within the creative industries. Careers Advisory Service

You're never alone in your hunt for employment, whether you're seeking part-time work alongside your course or full-time work after you graduate. As well as designing and delivering bespoke employability elements to each of our courses, Falmouth's Careers Service is also on hand to offer live vacancies searches or explore the possibility of further study options with you. Their impartial one-to-one advice on applications, improving your CV and interview skills is available even after you graduate.
