"Studying Photography at Falmouth prepared me artistically, allowing me to explore project ideas and creative concepts - and that has helped me no end. My final-year project still gets exhibited now and has helped people gain awareness of me and my work." Tell me more about the BA(Hons) Photography course

Falmouth's photography degree enjoys a long-held reputation for being one of the best in the country. For us, it's all about vision, experimentation, research and knowing your audience. We'll equip you with the skills and experience required to communicate effectively and begin an exciting career in the photographic industry.

Rose Hatcher BA(Hons) Photography From the outset, you'll explore all the key techniques that are needed to practice photography successfully, using both traditional and digital technology across a range of photographic media. You'll then go on, through personally developed work, to select from these in order to establish your own vision and style. Lectures and essays will aid this process as well as examining the historical and cultural importance of photography to provide further context.

Professional Practice is a core element of the course and prepares you to find employment after you graduate, helping you to make all-important contacts and to gain vital experience of working on live briefs. Whether you intend to work as a photographer or in a related field such as picture research, we'll help you develop your own style and gain an understanding of what's required for you to succeed professionally.

Project work is supported by trips to local and national galleries, studios and companies, and an extensive programme of practical inductions, visiting lecturers, workshops, seminars and tutorials. You'll be encouraged to take your own initiative to find projects, work experience and exhibitions so that you become an independent and confident photographer.

"The general atmosphere is very good at Falmouth; one feels that the tutors keep a close contact with the students, monitoring their progress. There also seems to be a strong work ethic instilled into the students which is very important in the Photography profession. The whole course is very well organised." Frank Herholdt, Photographer
