I served in the Royal Navy for 22 years. The first four years as an aircraft handler. Qualified fire fighter and in aircraft movements. In 1978, I requested to change branch to photographer; this was granted. I was drafted to the joint School of Photography at RAF Cosford, where I was trained in all aspects of Photography. On passing out I was drafted to RNAS Culdrose, where I gained experience in Macro, medical, engineering, portraits, aerial, public relations. From Culdrose I was then drafted to 809 NAS at RNAS Yeovilton, where I was responsible for the aerial cameras fitted to the aircraft. Towards the end of my service I moved from the air world into submarines where I was drafted to the 2nd Submarine SQDN to instruct periscope photography and camera calibration and film processing.
