I am a Scaussie, a combination of proud Scot by birth and proud Australian by accident. I spent over 20 years honing my craft as a copywriter in various London agencies such as TBWA, Fallon, Leo Burnett and Leagas Delaney, winning pitches and awards along the way. My biggest achievement was winning a rare D&AD Silver pencil for Copywriting and several Cannes golds for Playstation. In 2003, I moved 'down under' to Australia where I became Creative Director of BMF in Sydney and then deputy CD at TBWA. After several years in the sunshine, I decided to return to the somewhat chillier UK to pursue a different pathway as a lecturer at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, now BCU. I taught on the BA in Visual Communication for seven years at BCU,working across the disciplines of Graphic Communication, Photography, Illustration,Film and Animation. I also curated exhibitions during this time, most notably a retrospective of the work of digital artist, Ian Emes-animator of Dark Side of the Moon. In 2015, I moved to Falmouth to teach on the BA in Creative Advertising, a course famous in the Advertising Industry.

I have been a guest speaker at several Professional Copywriting conferences. In 2014 at the PCN conference in London and at the 'Way with words' Conference at Bournemouth University in 2013. 
I have also been a member of various Advertising Awards juries, including D&AD, AWARD in Australia and at The NZAA.
