Lorenzo Mattotti
Lorenzo Mattotti is an Italian comics and graphic artist as well as an illustrator. He began to make comics after studying architecture in Venice. Since then Mattotti has produced books for both adults and children whilst also working in fashion and advertising. He is famous for his idiosyncratic visual style. His first works were published in France for the magazine Circus and since then he has been published many times with works including Il signor Spartaco, L'uomo alla finestra, Stigmate, Ligne fragile, and many others. His work has been translated into many languages and books published by Penguin in the UK include Fires and Murmur. His illustrations have been published in magazines such as Cosmopolitan , Vogue, the New Yorker, Le Monde and Vanity Fair. In comics, Mattotti won an Eisner Award in 2003 for his Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde graphic novel. He is mainly inspired by painters, musicians, writers and directors. To him, the relation between text and image should be the same as with text and music. The two should enrich each other. Unusually, in Mattotti's comics the text illustrates the illustration instead of the other way around. He always makes sure the text has enough freedom for multiple interpretations. Mattotti's graphic novel Stigmata has recently been published in English. He has also been working on a new book The Raven with Lou Reed to be published this year.

She is known for her dark, mysterious illustrations and takes inspiration from a wide range of sources including Edgar Allan Poe and Maya Angelou. Orly uses ancient and modern myths, fables, poetry and plays, which she reinterprets and incorporates into her own visual narratives. She is interested in the connection between illustration and theatre, or drawing and action. She has produced work for album covers and theatre productions such as the Masque of the Red Death produced by the company Punchdrunk. Recently she has made artwork for the upcoming British film The Sea Change. She also works on site specific installations and murals.
