Free public seminar: Using your company archive to your best advantage

10:00am to 5:00pm, 28 July 2010

Over time, the University would like other performing artists and companies to consider gifting their own archives to the growing collection, and so we've organised a day event to introduce those of you who may be interested to come along and learn more.

Itinerary

10am - 1pm

This session will include an introduction to what might consist of your company archive - what you might have stored in the garage or under the bed that has a value in the telling of your company story, a value to others who wish to learn more about you and the potential that some of that old and forgotten material may have if you used it to better advantage. You will also be introduced to good practice in how to organise and preserve your Company's records.

You will be given a short tour of the current archive to see first hand the kinds of materials that are being catalogued by the University, how the work is stored and how it might be accessible for others who wish to see it.

2pm - 3.15pm

There will be an introduction from an Intellectual Property Lawyer who will talk to you about the rights associated to materials generated in the development of performance work and who will unravel some of the detail about who owns what in the eyes of the law.

3.30pm - 5.00pm

There will then be a discussion lead by a member of staff from the enterprise team who will talk to you about how you might think about using those items under the bed and in your garage to bring in commercial income for you and your organisation.

If you are interested in putting your name down on a list to attend, Tamsin Godfrey at Tamsin.Godfrey@falmouth.ac.uk by Monday, 19 July.
