Join three eminent and internationally renowned women photographers as they discuss their experiences in documenting women at war. Anastasia Taylor Lind (VII), independent photographer Poulomi Basu, and Chair Jenny Matthews (Panos Pictures) have exhibited, won awards, and been published worldwide.

Jenny Matthews

Portrait of Jenny MatthewsJenny Matthews has been photographing conflict and social issues for British newspapers, magazines and development organisations since 1982. She has worked with Marie Claire, the Guardian Weekend, the Sunday Times, the Independent Magazine, Save the Children, Action Aid, Oxfam and Christian Aid among others.

Her book, Women and War, was published in 2003 by Pluto Press and the accompanying exhibition toured worldwide. She is now working on a second book on the same theme.

Jenny is a trustee of Picture People and an Ambassador for Photovoice - both participatory photo projects - and, in this capacity, has facilitated workshops for sex workers in India and young people in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Albania, Lebanon and Romania.

Anastasia Taylor-Lind

Portrait of Anastasia Taylor-Lind (VII)British/Swedish photojournalist Anastasia Taylor-Lind is based in the Middle East. Her editorial clients include GEO Germany, Marie Claire, ELLE, Time, Newsweek, the Telegraph Magazine and the Observer Magazine, among others.

Anastastia has received a number of photography awards and, through them, her work has been supported by a diverse range of organisations including Canon Italy, The Royal Photographic Society, The Guardian, Channel 4 and Deutsche Bank. In 2011, Anastasia received an Fnac Grant for Photojournalism at Visa Pour L'image and was selected to participate in the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass.

Anastasia's images have been included in several group exhibitions at spaces such as The Saatchi Gallery, The Frontline Club and The National Portrait Gallery in London, and Fovea Exhibitions in New York. She has photography degrees from the University of Wales Newport and the London College of Communication.

Poulomi Basu

 Portrait of Poulomi Basu by Ivor PrickettPoulomi Basu's photography draws inspiration from all mediums of fine art, world cinema and visual culture. Her photography explores the line between fine art and documentary, seeing beyond what is ‘outside' the realm of mere observation. She likes to engage emotionally with her subjects to produce work that dwells with what is 'inside us', exploring how lives change and revolve around both how we see others and how we are.

Poulomi is a freelance photographer born in India. She completed her Masters in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the London College of Communication in 2009 with a Distinction. She currently lives and works between London and Mumbai.

Poulomi has assisted Magnum photographer David Alan Harvey (2008) and Magnum Nominee Simon Wheatley (2009).

She works for various international clients, publications and books such as the Sunday Times Magazine, New Yok Times, Monocle, The Daily Telegraph online, Time Out, ELLE, Travel & Leisure, Rolling Stone Magazine, Dazed Digital, The Times of India, Urban Age - LSE, The Routledge, Rolli Books, Transport for London.

Poulomi has also exhibited her work widely in India, Pakistan, Myanmar, Brazil, UK, Northern Ireland and South East Asia.
