Phillip Bartlett

Senior Lecturer

Phillip teaches TV producing on the MA, drawing on a prestigious career that has taken him all over the world and encompasses factual, drama, and entertainment genres.

In television, Phillip has worked closely with Channel 4, producing (with his production company, Yo Yo Films) a wide range of arts series and documentaries. Award-winning programmes include You Know What I Mean with Derek Jarman, Long Live the New Flesh with David Cronenburg, Heaven Man Earth in Hong Kong, and the 4 part documentary series The Peacock Screen in India.

Phillip’s documentary work also includes series in which he explored historical, social and human interest stories. For example. he produced two series of the 26 part documentary series The Third Wave, the six part Faces of the Family, the three part Tsars Stars And Swastikas in America and Russia, the six part series Apache Indian in India and Pakistan, as well as a number of singles for The Black Bag series and a three part series in South Africa.

In addition to his interests in TV and factual programming, Phillip also has wide experience as a feature film producer. His film work includes Film Four’s Midnight Breaks with Robbie Coltrane, Don Letts and Toyah Wilcox, Channel 4’s Gummed Labels with Leslie Grantham and Meera Syal, and the children’s Christmas special drama Buskers Odyssey. Most recently, he was Associate Producer on Exitz starring Malcolm McDowell.
