Who's who

Nikki Salkeld

Senior Lecturer

MA RCA

Nikki SalkeldOn graduating from the RCA School of Communication, Nikki set up BUMP Graphic Design with two partners. This was followed by freelance commercial work, dominated by paper and print as well as academic interests.

Her educational experience at St Martins and the RCA was essentially ideas based and this philosophy has inevitably underpinned her work to date - with drawing central to her practice. Commercial work has been predominantly concerned with print based graphics, with a particular interest in developing graphic paper sculpture; inspired by architectural and urban spaces, interiors and decor as well as the visual language of maps.

Recent research projects, which are on-going, have involved graphic transcriptions of paintings in association with ING Banking and The National Maritime Museum, London; applying a graphic process to translate the painting's original meaning.

Death and Typography & Graphic Transcription projects occupy current research directions.
