Jean Whitehead
Senior Lecturer
Jean Whitehead joined University College Falmouth as a Senior Lecturer in Spatial Design in September
2004. She currently contributes to the spatial, interior and garden
undergraduate courses. Jean graduated from the Glasgow School of Art with a
degree in Interior Design and a Masters from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Jean has a background in commercial interior design and has worked with various design consultancies on a wide range of interior refurbishments. She is interested in the influence that the ‘host’ building or site (or the imprint it leaves) can have upon interior and exterior renovations.
She has taught and lectured both architecture and interior design at undergraduate level at Manchester School of Architecture, University of Humberside and Lincolnshire, University of Central England, University of Portsmouth and La Salle University, Singapore.
A recently completed Learning and Teaching Fellowship has led to an interest in inter-disciplinary learning practices. She is also sure that she is the potential author of a book on the principles of spatial and interior design (that is just waiting to be written).
