Dr Yorick Benjamin

Senior Lecturer

Dr Yorick Benjamin joined University College Falmouth as Senior Lecturer on the 3D Design course in late 2004. Yorick studied Industrial Design at the Ravensbourne College and the Royal College of Art, London, UK. His ‘doctorate’ on eco design methodology was at Brunel University, UK.

He has taught and lectured on eco-design at design schools including: the ‘Royal College of Art, Gerard Rietveld Academy, Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, Central School of Design, Brunel University, Kingston University, Cardiff University, University of Amsterdam. He has acted as External Examiner to the ‘Royal College of Art’ PhD programme.

He is a founder member of sustainable design network O2 (UK), and has sat on Advisory Boards for 'The Chartered Society of Designers' (London, UK), 'International Centre for Innovation and Sustainability' (ICIS - Denmark) and the European Foundation (Dublin - Ireland) who work as a research agency to the European Commission. Other E.U advisory roles include being a 'core' group member of the European Union EUREKA-PREPARE eco-design Group. He has been an invited speaker to many international eco-design conferences such as: O2 International (89), EUREKA PREPARE (90,91,92,93) Design for the Future (92), Mind Over Matter (96), European eco-design Workshops (96), European Conference on the Role of the Social Partners for Sustainable Development (99) amongst others. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts.

He has participated in various E.U. research projects on eco design and has numerous publications on related subjects.
