Dr Neil McLeod

Lecturer & Award Leader, BA(Hons) Fine Art

Neil is a fine art practitioner. He holds a first class BA(Hons) degree in Sculpture from the Glasgow School of Art, a Master of Design from Edinburgh College of Art and two years ago completed a practice led PhD, entitled ‘Narrative in the Margins', at Glasgow School of Art. His thesis explored the spatial and temporal properties of visual notation, and considered the function of the ‘poetic' within an academic research framework. His practice encompasses journals and notebooks, visual poetry, narrative and drawing, and painting.

Neil has taught for 20 years, working in several British art schools and across a range of disciplines, from fine art to illustration and design. He has worked across a wide range of media, from sculpture and painting to new media and writing. Before moving into the arts Neil trained and worked as a journalist and has extensive industrial experience in fine art and graphic design.
