Who's who

Elizabeth Masterton

Part-time Lecturer

Since studying Printmaking at the Royal College of Art, from where she graduated in 2000, Elizabeth’s practice has diversified into making work in a variety of media. It is disseminated through gallery, off-site and online events and ephemera. Elizabeth’s practice is process-led, often collaborative and interdisciplinary, involving a range of people, sites and interests. It is underpinned by concepts of fallibility, memory and decay, predominantly using the military as an instrument to explore ideas of permanence and indomitability.

Significant projects include HAPPIDROME, an artist-led cross disciplinary project platform located on a disused WW2 radar base in Cornwall. Sing Us An Old Song is a sound work, most recently presented at Wilton’s Music Hall, London. Experimental Station utilised a vacant Trinity House Research & Development station in Dungeness, Kent to accommodate 20 artists working on site.

Elizabeth has taught on BA, BSc and MA programmes countrywide, including the University of Hertfordshire and University of Brighton. She has been a part-time lecturer at UCF since 2001 and a core member of the MA Fine Art team since 2004. She has a parallel practice in graphic design, specialising in design for the education and arts sectors.
