Jerome Fletcher

Award Leader and Associate Professor of Performance Writing

Jerome Fletcher is Associate Professor of Performance Writing and the award leader for MA Performance Writing.

His practice covers writing and performance. As a writer he has published seven books - 3 children's books with OUP, Scholastic and Corgi, 3 literary concept books on Decadence with Dedalus and a translation of a French novella. His work has been translated into eight languages. He has also made artist's books and books of experimental texts.

His performance works are collaborative and multimodal, comprising live voice, projection, digital text generation and sound. He has performed at the Barbican London, Kunsthalle Vienna, Kunsthaus Bregenz, Leo Koenig Gallery New York, as well as in Naples, Moscow, Paris, Barcelona and Prague.

Jerome Fletcher's research is focused on a three year project into Electronic Literature as a Model of Creativity in Practice (ELMCIP). This project brings together seven European universities researching various aspects of e-literature and networked communities. Jerome's particular interest lies in the relationship between digital text and performativity. The outcomes from this research will include a series of seminars, curation of digital text performances at the final conference in Edinburgh, a survey of e-literature performance contexts and editing an issue of Performance Research Journal dedicated to e-literature and performance in contemporary Europe. Jerome has recently developed a working partnership with Arnolfini Bristol to deliver the MA Performance Writing as an off-campus postgraduate degree. This is a unique offer combining UCF's teaching expertise with Arnolfini's extensive arts network and professional links, as well as its reputation as one of the premier European Art and Performance venues. He is currently developing a Creative MBA for Falmouth with a number of significant international partners including Banff Center for the Arts, Canada.
