Klaus Kruse: Devised Theatre MA graduate

MA Devised Theatre, 2007

Klaus is a German director, scenographer, performer and poet. He's currently a part-time lecturer at Falmouth and is co-founder of Living Structures, a multi-disciplinary collective engaged in the creation of immersive performance installations, and The Solvents Performance Collective - both formed during his studies at the College.

Having toured England and Europe, Living Structures have recently engaged in a series of residencies including Battersea Arts Centre, Shunt, and The Pleasance, London. Klaus won the Directors' Guild Award at the National Student Drama Festival (NSDF), and the Solvents Award for Best Soundscape and Versatility.

"The course challenged many of my preconceived ideas and opened me up towards new ways of thinking and working, giving me the confidence to commit to being an artist and vitally influencing the furthering of my professional practice," he says. "The cross-disciplinary approach provides a lively pool of collaborators across different artistic fields, and generates numerous networking opportunities. Most of my current collaborators are contacts and friends I made as a student."
