Pelayo Canga Torre: Television Production MA graduate

MA Television Production 2010-11

Television production feels like the natural area for me to work in. Perhaps due to my background as a journalist, I am naturally curious - I like to discover the ‘why' of things. I'm also very empathetic and I've been told my energy and enthusiasm is infectious! TV is, in my opinion, the best way to reach people's hearts and souls. With television, you can entertain, educate and inform people, as well as helping others by highlighting injustices or drawing attention to important issues.

I chose MA Television Production at UCF to help me gain the knowledge and skills I need to make my CV stand out so I can get a good job in the television production industry either here in the UK, in Spain, or elsewhere. My aim was to learn how to translate an idea into a real audiovisual project and the course has helped me do this. I've developed my technical knowledge, learned how to use a variety of industry standard software and production-specific software, and how to work as part of a team to generate ideas and see them through to production stage.

Studying at Falmouth has given me the opportunity to develop my English language skills, and make contacts within the media sector in the UK. I'm currently doing an internship with Denham Productions and working on Rick Stein's Christmas Special.

The course has made me very happy because it's given me the opportunity to dream about my future - and the belief that I can achieve those dreams. Without a doubt, one of the most important things I've gained during the year is self-confidence.
