Jack Bridger: Film BA(Hons) graduate

BA(Hons Film 2005 - 2008

I graduated from Film in 2008. A few months later I was awarded a full scholarship from the Arts and Humanities Research Council to study MA Visual Culture full time at Manchester Metropolitan University. I now work as a footage researcher for a documentary distributor near London.

The film course at Falmouth prepared me well for both my MA and my job and helped me develop confidence in my abilities both academically and professionally.

One of the best things about Film at Falmouth was the combination of theory and practice and choice of different units. It allowed me a great deal of flexibility and let me tailor the course to suit my interests.

The theory side gave me an invaluable insight into the different contextual, theoretical and analytical approaches to film in both local and global contexts, while the practice side helped me to develop a number of post-production skills that have become essential in my current job.

Other units on the course like journalism, screenwriting and experiential film also gave me the opportunity to develop skills in more specialist areas of film.

The staff at Falmouth are also a real credit to the course. They really encouraged me with my research and filmmaking practice and helped me achieve a great deal both during and after my studies.
