Phil Wyatt: Spatial Design BA(Hons) graduate

After graduating from University College Falmouth, Phil explored furniture and interior design as a Junior Designer with Fraser Shiers Design, developing concept, detailing, project management and 3D visualisation skills. After 13 months, he left to further his interests in public art and design for social interaction within communities. After consultancy work for Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C), Phil joined Mor Design in 2004.

Mor is a multi-disciplinary spatial design office with the emphasis on landscape architecture and public art. Mor’s ambition is to enhance people’s lives through the use of meaningful design. Phil is involved in all aspects of the business and has worked for local authorities to combine art with the natural environment.

“I find much inspiration in the realms of urban space,” says Phil. “It inspires me to encourage social interaction through design, through ‘people-friendly’ places that will stand the test of time. I thrive on the challenge of this”.

The Penhaligon Star sculpture for Pencalenick School, Truro, is a play space celebrating the legacy of local MP David Penhaligon. Phil was also involved in detailing and project management for the refurbishment of Beacon School’s sports hall, working with Kevin McLeod, presenter of Channel 4’s Grand Designs, and with the Sorrell Foundation as part of their JoinedUpDesignForSchools initiative.
