MA 20th Century Art & Design: Histories & Theories Trudi Gurling

I was a teacher / lecturer in Art & Design from the early ‘70s and after a varied and fulfilling career it’s good to have the time and the opportunity to research work and ideas that have been of long-standing, personal interest.

The course is structured to allow considerable individual choice in the subject and theme of critical studies, written projects and informal presentations made to year group colleagues. A very pleasant part of the course is the annual study visit – I will have been to Paris, Barcelona and Berlin by the end of my time at Falmouth. Having the expertise of tutors on gallery and site visits is invaluable, and sharing the enjoyment of discovering cities with other students has made each visit memorable.

Since I’ve never had a careerist approach to work, teaching or otherwise, it seems perfectly natural to study for the sheer enjoyment of it, added to which is the general intention of using my studies in relation to the development of my own practice.
