Louise Thomas: Fine Art BA(Hons) graduate
Almost as soon as I graduated I was selected for a show organised by the Saatchi Gallery and Channel 4 - 4 New Sensations. Through this I gained lots of exposure and had to make some immediate decisions about my work in the professional world. At this time I took strength from everything I learnt at Falmouth - and even now it gives me a unique perspective.
At Falmouth I learnt how I work best. Cornwall has a pace and magic like nowhere else in Britain and I fell into its spell in my first week. Everything else grew naturally out of this; my practice as an artist, friendships and professional relationships. My tutor also helped me apply for the Ferdynand Zweig Scholarship, which allowed me to visit and document a collection of futurist buildings in Italy and created the foundation for work that I'm still doing now.
I'm currently on a year-long residency with the Florence Trust programme in Islington, London, and am also preparing for my first solo show with my dealer Bischoff/Weiss. Since graduating I've had exhibitions across the world - from Penzance to New York, Dubai, Brussels and London.
